Sean “Diddy” Combs will stand before a US district judge in New York City on Friday for sentencing following his recent conviction on charges related to prostitution.

Court Verdict

Following the eight-week trial that wrapped up in this past July, the jury cleared Combs of the top-level charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy charges. However, the jury, however, rule against him on a pair of offenses of transporting persons for commercial sex acts.

Judge Subramanian is now tasked with the responsibility of deciding the penalty. Court activities are planned to start at 10:00 AM ET.

Case Background

He faced allegations of influencing two ex-partners into drug-laced sexual encounters involving hired escorts. If found guilty on the most serious charges would have meant a life in prison.

Upon his acquittal of those allegations, he according to accounts knelt down in supplication. His legal counsel remarked that he had “received his life back”.

Likely Penalty

Yet, the findings of guilt he obtained still each carry a maximum of 10 years incarcerated according to the Mann Act, which forbids interstate travel to enable sex work.

Prosecutors portray the actions as grave offenses, whereas the defense has dismissed the counts as “backup” allegations that should not have proceeded.

New Information

It has been reported that Combs intends to address to the presiding officer before the penalty is delivered, although never testifying throughout the trial.

In a request lodged last week, his attorneys requested that he be allowed to be present in “regular clothes” at the sentencing, just as he had during the court case when he sported casual wear.

“This court hearing carries great weight for Sean Combs,” the filing said. “He wants to stand before the bench, speak to the court, and speak in the most dignified and proper fashion feasible.”

Suggested Sentences

Various penalties are possible, as the government and defense have made recommendations following US sentencing guidelines, while the ultimate ruling is up to the court.

Prosecutors is recommending a minimum of 135 months incarcerated – amounting to 135 months – calling Combs “unrepentant” and highlighting coercive behavior that witnesses described.

His attorneys are seeking a maximum of 14 months, which considering time served would allow Combs to exit prison by the close of 2025. They contend that his penalty has already been enough for what they maintain was consensual sex with paid “entertainers”.

Probation officials, at the same time, determined that the standard penalty range might amount to up to 87 months.
