Cairo and Doha are currently engaged in diplomatic moves to urge the Palestinian faction to agree to Donald Trump's demand to halt the conflict in Gaza, per Egypt's top diplomat.

Increasing Pressure on Hamas

Egypt's foreign minister declared that the moment has arrived for the organization to lay down its weapons and avoid providing Israeli forces any justification to continue its operations in the region, where 28 Palestinians were killed on Friday.

“Let’s not give any excuse for one party to use Hamas as a pretext for this mad daily killings of civilians. What’s happening is far beyond the 7th of October,” the minister remarked.

The diplomat added that Cairo is “working alongside Qatar and Turkey to encourage Hamas to accept the proposal”.

Details of the Trump Proposal

The initiative would necessitate the group to:

• Surrender weapons and exit politics
• Release the captives in custody from the October incident, including two dozen are believed to be living

As part of the deal, Israel would:

• Gradually withdraw its forces from the territory
• Be replaced by an international force
• Support a interim administration under Trump

Observers concur that the proposal would effectively terminate Hamas’s identity as an militant organization, while the Israeli side would offer limited compromises.

Disagreements within Hamas

The organization is divided over its reaction, with some members requesting more time to consider the deal.

Izz al-Din al-Haddad has opposed the plan, viewing it as a strategy to destroy Hamas if they agree.

Those familiar with the matter indicate that the faction is inclined to seek modifications regarding:

• Disarmament terms
• Continued presence of Israeli forces in the area
• Assurances that the top officials will not be attacked

Civilian Suffering Intensifies

Israeli forces continued its military actions in the northern area and airstrikes across the wider strip on Friday, claiming the lives of numerous civilians.

Eleven of the victims were in Gaza City, while the others died in southern Gaza, with three in an unmanned aircraft attack in al-Masawi, which had been once declared a protected space.

The Israeli military issued its last evacuation order for Gaza City on earlier this week, with the top defense official announcing that those who stay would be deemed affiliated with armed groups, a designation that defies international law.

A vast number of civilians remain trapped in the urban area, with numerous who lack the means for the evacuation to southern Gaza, which is said to cost a significant sum.

“Numerous civilians are stranded on roadsides, awaiting shelter,” commented Sarah Davies.

United Nations agencies reported that there is no safe place for those escaping Gaza City, as zones labeled as secure areas in the south are lethal.

A UNICEF spokesperson called the idea of secure areas as “absurd”, noting that airstrikes are dropped with “chilling predictability” and educational buildings serving as refuges are often destroyed.

Hospitals under Severe Strain

Medical facilities in the south are overwhelmed, with the medical unit accommodating significantly beyond its normal limits.

Earlier, al-Nasser hospital took in the remains of 27 individuals of people shot dead by the forces.

A senior doctor referred to the circumstances as “extremely difficult”.

Israel has been alleged to be attacking doctors and clinics, with a nurse reportedly “abducted” while heading to her job in Khan Younis.

Israel has often stated that arrested medical officials had links with the group, though without providing evidence.

The overall death toll from hostilities in Gaza has amounted to more than sixty-two thousand civilians fatally injured and about 170,000 wounded, according to the Gaza health authority.
